Welcome to the SRLF's general questions and answers section for the online portal. As we do cover quite a bit of info in our FAQ's we've attempted to keep the questions as organized as possible. Evidence of Security and Ability to Cover Shortfall
Shortfall is the difference between the cost of programme (tuition, housing etc.) – subtract the amount you qualify to borrow. This can be shown by providing evidence of one or a combination of the following:
- For Sureties - Two Sureties can cover up to $50,000 of the Total Desired Loan Amount
- For Land or Property - Most recent Land Tax bill and letter of commitment
- For Insurance Policy - Policy statement no older than 3 months showing Cash Surrender value
- For Government Bonds - Recent copy of Bond statement
- For Cash – Recent Bank Statement
PLEASE NOTE A SIGNED PLEDGE LETTER MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH ALL OF THE ABOVE FROM THE PERSON PLEDGING SECURITY OR SHORTFALL EVEN IF IT’S THE APPLICANT. ALSO, ALL SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS MUST NOT BE OLDER THAN THREE (3) MONTHS.
Proof of Address
Proof of Address is a bank statement/ utility bill/ insurance policy with your address on it. Please note this must not be older than three months on submission. If you do not have any of these items a letter from the person you reside with and one the above listed document will work.
MUST NOT BE ORDER THAN THREE MONTHS SO IF YOU SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION IN MARCH YOUR PROOF OF ADDRESS SHOULD BE NO OLDER THAN JANUARY.
Government Approved Identification
Please note that for the Identification to be valid it must not be expired. Please submit driver license slip or new card. Expired passports will not be accepted.
Academic Qualifications
Most recent academic qualification must be certified on the front. These documents can be certified by member of Parliament, Magistrate, Justice of the Peace, Minister of Religion, Police Officer (Gazetted Rank), Bank Manager, Medical Practitioner, Attorney-at-Law, School Principal, or Senior Civil Servant who is acquainted with the applicant. Stamp of Office MUST be used on the front of all documents.
Official Transcripts
The Official transcript is required along with a status if you are a continuing student. No student copies will be accepted.
Annual Cost of Programme
The annual cost of the programme includes tuition, housing, meals, books, and supplies. However, you required to submit evidence of cost tuition and housing. Students studying at UWI & Sponsored by government only need to submit acceptance letter.

Medical Certificate
The medical certificate must NOT be older than three months on submission of the application. This is not the medical form submitted to the University but rather a letter from your doctor stating you are fit to or not fit to study.
